TASTE OF VERSAILLES
This project was situated on a large, gently sloping mountain view lot in the Highpoint development. The scope of work was quite substantial and a lot of time went into the design process.
We poured reinforced concrete footings for the posts and gates. These were faced with cultured stone and topped with concrete caps. The large paving stone driveway was jointed with polymeric sand for weed and ant-free joints, and the border of the paving stones included cored in up-lighting to define the driveway at night.
Ornamental gravel pathways, leading from the driveway, and winding throughout the property were bordered with aluminum edging.
The clients really liked the look of Pennsylvania Bluestone, a flagstone native to the Northeastern United States. Groundforce installed a large random fit mortared Bluestone patio at the back of the house, with stairs leading down to a continuation of the patio, and a walkway surrounding a formal water feature.
Groundforce designed and installed a wide variety of plants, with emphasis placed on mass planting specific varieties to give the yard a southern French look and feel. Natural boulders were strategically placed to define gardens, retain slopes and to reinforce large stone stairs.
We installed a custom fire pit, nestled in behind a large planted berm, and surrounded by flat seating boulders. This provided both wind protection, and a cozy feel.
The clients were avid golfers, and decided that they wanted to bring a little of the golf course to their home. Groundforce design-built a 3-hole putting and chipping green complete with a bunker.
